The mission of the 1947 Foundation Inc is to provide resources and services to a coalition of community-based partners in order to help eradicate systemic social and educational deficiencies in the city of Hampton Virginia and surrounding areas.

The 1947 Foundation is dedicated to eliminating social and educational inequalities in Hampton, Virginia. Through partnerships and volunteer efforts, we empower families and youth with programs that foster growth, involvement, and achievement, striving to create lasting positive change.
The 1947 Foundation’s Contributions
Contributions will be to acquire a building and provide volunteer manpower and facility resources to assist with carrying out the following services, initiatives, and programs offered by our partners:

Achievement Week Program
Observed every November and is designed to duly recognize individuals at the local level who have made a noteworthy contribution to improve the quality of life for their communities. A High School Essay Contest is held in conjunction with Achievement Week for all college-bound seniors. College scholarships are awarded to the winners, each of whom must submit an essay on a theme/topic chosen by the program committee members. We will be partnering with the Hampton Omega Foundation, and the Zeta Omicron and Gamma Epsilon Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity by providing facility space and resources.
